Great little hole in the wall. This would be 5 stars if it was just a bit larger. It got very crowded at lunch time. I hade the Mikes burger which was topped with country ham. This was surprisingly very good!! Also had the onion rings. Very greasy which is to be assumed for a deep fried onion. Bottom line is good southern food with great service and I will go back.

Ronda's Kitchen is everything that you could want from a small Mom and Pop operation. Located off of I-85 in the small town of Grover, NC (Population 700), this little family-owned restaurant has probably gone unnoticed by many travelers on the interstate. These travelers have been missing out! As you walk in you are quickly greeted by one of the friendly members of the wait staff. They inform you that you can sit anywhere you want, which is pretty limited considering this place had less than ten tables. I realized that these tables were not necessary since it seems that most people called in and got takeout. There must have been at least 10 people come pick up food in the short time span we were in there. When you consider the size of the area, that's impressive! There are multiple signs around the place lauding "Mike's Burger." I asked about it and our waitress enthusiastically explained it to me. Mike's Burger is named after one of the owners of the restaurant. He one day decided that he would take an 8 ounce burger and top it with a thick slice of country ham. I decided I would give the "Single Mike's Burger" a try since I had never heard of such a thing. I was also talked into getting both onion rings and french fries on the side. Side note: There is a food challenge here called Mike's Challenge. It consists of eating 2 "Mike's Burgers" (That's 32 ounces of meat), 2 pounds of fries, and a 32 ounce drink in under 30 minutes. Supposedly only 3 men have completed the challenge, although many have tried. Before our food came out we were served some complimentary hush puppies. I would have a picture of them, but they were gone before that even crossed my mind. The hushpuppies were incredible. Nice crunchy outside with a gooey inside. They also came with a mustard dipping sauce, which is something that I would have never thought of, but i'm sure glad that they did. I ended up sopping all of this delicious condiment up and having to ask for another to dip my fries in. When our burgers came out, I was amazed at the mountain of food. The onion rings were the size of bracelets and the burger was dwarfing the bun. I bit into the Mike's Burger and was instantly impressed. The country ham, which is normally too salty for my taste, was a perfect compliment to the burger. It's odd that this doesn't happen more often since bacon is always such a popular topping. The bun was toasted and buttered and the burger was juicy. Half way through I realized that I hadn't put any sauce on my burger of any kind. With just the mayonnaise and the juiciness of the burger, any sauce or condiment was completely unnecessary. The fries were crinkle cut and crispy and the onion rings were perfect. The rings were so big that they could fit around my hand. The breading was crispy and when you bit into them the onion did not pull through and come apart from the breading, as happens with so many. Both were very good when dipped in their mustard. I finished my "Single Mike's Burger" (8 ounces) and left some of my onion rings and fries. I still left stuffed. I have no idea how those men did the food challenge, but they should get some serious props for that. The reason that this place gets bumped up to a solid five stars is what happened when we went to pay. The cashier struck up a conversation and asked us if it was our first time at Ronda's. When we answered that it was, she humbly thanked us for coming in and asked how everything was. She then introduced us to Ronda herself (the namesake). Ronda was gracious and friendly. She went out of her way to stand up, shake our hand, and thank us for our business. This is what Mom and Pop's are all about! Ronda's is a quintessential Mom and Pop operation with unique, creative, and delicious food. The owners and staff are all as nice as can be and seem to truly understand the value of a handshake, a smile, and a thank you. Don't overlook this as you're driving to SC on I-85.

I've been here several times and always great food. Their Philly cheese steak is way better than you'd expect for the price. I may have had too high of expectations after all the raves about mikes burger but I'll stick with the regular burgers or the Philly cheese steak. When I'm in the area and going to grab a burger this is the go to place. Nothing that comes out a window can compare and this place is a better value.

It's hard to believe that the Travel Channel or Food Network hasn't discovered this gem. It's a rather unassuming building, but you can't miss it for all the cars crammed into the little parking lot. This family owned restaurant is clearly a favorite among locals but a must for travelers heading in or out of the Kings Mountain State or National Military parks just a couple of miles down the road. Down home cooking, meat and vegetables served alongside delicious sandwiches and burgers. The "Mikes Burger" is two large hand crafted patties with three pieces if country ham! That's right, country ham ( a smaller single patty version also available). It may be a heart attack on a bun but it's worth the ambulance ride! Try the country fried steak or even a hearty salad if you're do inclined. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. They offer take out service but don't try eating a Mike's Burger while driving!!!

If you like good hot food, friendly service, and good prices; then this is your place. Hamburgers are great, and the onion rings are amazing! I really thing you should go!

This place is really popular with locals, but honestly out here there is nowhere else to eat. My salad had a fly in it. But not like a living fly that just landed on the food because the door was open. It was a fly that flew in the refrigerator and died on the salad plate. Cold. Dead. So gross. The whole place is dirty. The tables are sticky, the salt & pepper shakers are not clean, the ketchup bottles are crusty, and the bathroom is like a gas station restroom that is 1000 degrees in the summer. My boyfriend lands here on occasion with his work buddies and they swear by the burgers but I won't be back. After two visits, my food coming out once incorrectly and then the fly business on the second go-round, I'm pretty turned off.
